As resilient and relentless as he was on the ice, Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe is up on his feet once again.

Sportnet’s Scott Lewis is reporting:

NHL legend Gordie Howe is reportedly walking on his own and is scheduled to make his final public appearance on Feb. 6, 2015 in Saskatoon.

A representative of Sports for Saskatoon Media Croup, John Fraser, tweeted Wednesday that Howe’s son Marty confirms that his father is “walking under his own power” and is “expected” to make an appearance at a Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Dinner on Feb. 6.

If he can make it to the event, he will be joined by Wayne Gretzky. The Great One idolized Gordie iN his youth and even wore his number 9 during his early playing days. The news of Howe’s recovery is wonderful, especially during the holiday season.

The event is being promoted as a tribute to Mr. Hockey! Get well Gordie.
