“Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers! I’m sick and tired of it.” According to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, that’s what Leafs’ coach, Randy Carlyle was screaming at practice. Well, ultimately there is one big turnover yet to happen and it will be when the Leafs relieve Carlyle of his duties.

The real question is when? According to Simmons the next few weeks will dictate what his future holds as the Leafs will play 10 out of their next 12 at home. A quick glance at the schedule below spells certain doom as the Lightning, Wings (2x), Stars, Canucks, Kings and Ducks are all on the slate.

Another man on the hot seat is GM, Dave Nonis. For him, tonight’s game against the Lightning isn’t about winning or losing. “It’s about performing at the highest level you can,” he told The Star. “If we do that on a consistent basis, we’re going to get more wins than losses.”

I’m sorry Dave, but that’s the last thing Leafs’ fans want to hear.

Leafs’ captain Dion Phaneuf, expressed his thoughts as well, “We support Randy, our job is to play.” Phaneuf, who only has one goal on the year knows it starts with him. “He’s not out there playing. The coaching staff is not out there playing. We have to expect more from ourselves. It’s on us as players to do better.”

Well, after missing the playoffs last year, Toronto can’t just watch this season slip away. The fans won’t stand for it and are making it known as jersey tossing is a growing occurrence at Leafs’ games.

James Mirtle of the GLOBE and MAIL, reported:

“You guys are going to discuss lots,” Carlyle responded when asked about his job security. “I understand that. As I’ve said before, when you get in this business you better understand that when things don’t go well there’s going to be a huge amount of scrutiny and attention paid to your position.”

Yes, scrutiny that will grow with each passing loss and that will ultimately culminate in a new coach behind the bench.

Anyone have John Tortorella’s phone number handy?
