It had been widely reported that veteran winger Jarome Iginla was looking for a two-year deal, well he got all that and then some when he signed a three-year deal worth $16 million with the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.

That’s a lot of guaranteed money and years for an aging 36-year old power forward, but Iginla showed this past season in Boston there is still plenty of fight in him.

Iginla appeared in all 82 games for the Bruins in 2013-14 and was able to register 30 goals and 31 assists during his 12th straight complete season. Not bad at all for an “old-timer” and he’ll now be joining a young and exciting Avalanche team that enjoyed quite the bounce back year of their own last season.

While Iginla doesn’t have the legs he use to, he’ll be an excellent second line winger for either Matt Duchene or Nathan MacKinnon as well as being the leader and classy pro he has been his entire career.
