The Florida Panthers Are Looking To Trade The 2014 First Overall Pick
Word has been circulating for quite some time that the Florida Panthers are interested in moving the 1st overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, but for what exactly is an entirely different story.
Well, today TSN’s Darren Dreger is reporting the Panthers will be making the decision on what to do with the pick before they even reach the draft floor on Friday night.
The Panthers intend on making their decision on whether or not to trade the pick before they get to the Draft floor…so, likely before 5pm.

Dreger is also reporting that the Panthers have expanded the number of teams they are talking to and what exactly they could be looking for.
Florida is considering a number of trade options for the 1st pick, including teams outside the top 10 offering current NHL players… — Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) June 27, 2014
One of the bigger rumors circulating is a deal that involves the Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Reportedly the Leafs have offered their 2014 1st round pick (8th overall) along with Dion Phaneuf and Nazim Kadri to the Panthers in exchange for Dimitry Kulikov and the 1st overall pick.
If there is any validity to that rumor, I would have to think the Panthers would be strongly considering pulling the trigger on that deal as it almost seems to good to be true and would set them up nicely for the present and the future.
In the end though it’s all just speculation and only time will tell exactly what the Panthers will do, but that won’t stop the rumors from swirling all the way up until the 1st selection is actually made in Philadelphia.
